First Ever Attempt
This is the cake my oldest son Alex had his heart set on for his birthday. Up to this point my homemade birthday cakes were a boxed cake mix, made in a 9X13 cake pan, or I would pick one up for $15 buck at the nearest grocery store. His aunt (on his dad's side, who is a pro at this kind of thing) had planned to make this cake until her kids came down with the flu the day before his big party. I could not let my growing baby have this dream crushed. Off I went to Michael's to purchase everything I was going to need, after crash studying on Google and Youtube. I worked on this cake half the night and then most of the next day. I finally finished about an hour before the start of the party, just enough time to clean up and look presentable. It turned out so great! I was completely hooked! I find myself dreaming at night about cakes. Literally!!! It is fun to wake up feeling giddy with excitement because a great cake design was formulated in my sleep. I am grateful for the opportunity to make this cake. It has launched me into a world I never want to leave!
