Baking Fun at Scrumpdilly Cakes

Famous words at our house growing up, "What's the goodie for tonight?" That always came out of my dad's mouth. Dinner was never complete without dessert. My mom, a stay at home mom of seven kids, always managed some kind of goodie regardless of how busy she was with her insane life raising so many kids. I am number five in that big brood. As my older siblings got old enough to take over some of the cooking, goodies were the fun part to help with. Once I was old enough, I followed in my siblings footsteps and Dad was always the deciding factor. We would present our goodie to Dad and wait to hear the verdict. Seeing my dad with his eyes rolled in the back of his head, chewing slowly with a groan of pure pleasure escaping his lips, gave me an incredible sense of accomplishment. I have spent endless hours perfecting my dad’s favorite goodies. Thanks to my mom for teaching me every year for 12+ years how to make the perfect Lemon Merengue Pie for Thanksgiving. According to my dad, I have finally exceeded her award winning pie (sorry mom).Thank you to both of my parents for helping me find the passion for baking.

Although baking a wide variety of goodies has always been a love of mine, elaborate cake baking and decorating is a love that has developed more recently. With cake decorating, I am able to unleash a creative side that I did not realize ran so deep. It is amazing how much satisfaction I feel seeing the end result of a cake that I have poured hours of time and love into. Seriously, it makes me giddy! But on the flip side, it is almost painful to see it cut into. The only thing that makes it worthwhile is that it tastes so delicious.

I am so excited for this blog. I am excited to showcase my cakes and other baked goodies to any and all out there that want to see them. If you like what you see and you want to place an order for weddings, birthdays, special occasions, or even holidays I would be so happy to create something amazing. You can even send me pictures of your ideas! I hope all who visit my blog will feel free to leave comments, make suggestions, or give ideas for yummy goodies. All I ask is that you be kind and constructive in your criticism. Also, please don't hesitate to call or email me with questions and/or orders. I am here for you!
