German Chocolate Heaven
My 14 year old son Trent, loves German Chocolate cake. It happens to be my all time favorite as well. Something about that gooey coconut, pecan deliciousness, and then chocolate to boot. Yum! This cake was dressed up with some chocolate scrolls and a monogram "T".

Edible Animal Kingdom
I absolutely loved making this cake for my nephew. He is such an animal lover. He could think of nothing better than a cake with as many different animals as possible. All of the animals were sculpted out of fondant. One tier was a vanilla cake and the other was strawberry. Each were filled with buttercream frosting.

Help! My Cake is on Fire!
Umm, I Think Your Gown is Open in Back Sir!
My poor brother in law spent some time in the hospital with some health problems. They wanted to say thank you to the nursing staff that took such great care of him. My brother in law is one of the funniest people I know. I can only imagine the pain those nurses were in while taking care of him. Who wouldn't be in pain laughing non-stop for a 12 hour shift? Well he wanted this thank you to be a final haha. Nothing better than a patient walking around with his hiney hanging out because the gown is open in the back. Love that man's humor!!!

High School Graduation
What a awesome accomplishment graduating from high school is! I had so much fun making this for my nephew to help him in his celebration. The cake was a basic yellow filled with chocolate buttercream. The cap was two milk chocolate Hershey's bars covered in fondant.

Pretty in Pink
I made this cake for a 12 year olds birthday. I learned alot about monogram toppers, especially what not to do! This was a chocolate cake with a whipped berry filling. The cake was iced in hot pink buttercream. The circles, balls, and monogram were made out of fondant.

Hoops Anyone?
My kids wanted to make a cake for their dad's birthday. It was so much fun to work right along side of them to create this cute cake. Their dad is a huge fan of basketball, whether it is playing or watching. I loved seeing the pride in their eyes as they presented it to him, and saw how special it was to him. The cake was red velvet with a cream cheese filling. Yummy!!!

One Slice or Two?
Who can resist Pizza? Especially if it tastes like cake! My nephew sure couldn't for his 18th birthday. I loved the reaction of him and his friends. "That's cake? There is no way!" All of the topings were made out of fondant while the sauce and cheese were buttercream frosting. The mushrooms were my favorite part. They totally looked like real mushrooms. The cake was a basic yellow and it was filled with chocolate buttercream.

Open Wide
I had so much fun making this cake for my brother in law. He was having a work birthday party at his dental office. My 16 year old helped out so much on this cake. He baked and sculpted right along side his mama. It was a sweet moment where I recognized that I was passing a love of baking down to him, like my parents had for me.

Let's Monkey Around
I made this cake for my son Jace. What 2 year old doesn't love monkey's? This cake was so fun to make. It was my first attempt at sculpted fondant. I feel like I was able to really tap into some fun creativity. The best part of this cake was the filling flavors. I did a chocolate cake with carmel filling and a basic yellow cake with banana filling. Can't have a monkey cake without a banana flavor!

First Ever Attempt
This is the cake my oldest son Alex had his heart set on for his birthday. Up to this point my homemade birthday cakes were a boxed cake mix, made in a 9X13 cake pan, or I would pick one up for $15 buck at the nearest grocery store. His aunt (on his dad's side, who is a pro at this kind of thing) had planned to make this cake until her kids came down with the flu the day before his big party. I could not let my growing baby have this dream crushed. Off I went to Michael's to purchase everything I was going to need, after crash studying on Google and Youtube. I worked on this cake half the night and then most of the next day. I finally finished about an hour before the start of the party, just enough time to clean up and look presentable. It turned out so great! I was completely hooked! I find myself dreaming at night about cakes. Literally!!! It is fun to wake up feeling giddy with excitement because a great cake design was formulated in my sleep. I am grateful for the opportunity to make this cake. It has launched me into a world I never want to leave!

Baking Fun at Scrumpdilly Cakes
Famous words at our house growing up, "What's the goodie for tonight?" That always came out of my dad's mouth. Dinner was never complete without dessert. My mom, a stay at home mom of seven kids, always managed some kind of goodie regardless of how busy she was with her insane life raising so many kids. I am number five in that big brood. As my older siblings got old enough to take over some of the cooking, goodies were the fun part to help with. Once I was old enough, I followed in my siblings footsteps and Dad was always the deciding factor. We would present our goodie to Dad and wait to hear the verdict. Seeing my dad with his eyes rolled in the back of his head, chewing slowly with a groan of pure pleasure escaping his lips, gave me an incredible sense of accomplishment. I have spent endless hours perfecting my dad’s favorite goodies. Thanks to my mom for teaching me every year for 12+ years how to make the perfect Lemon Merengue Pie for Thanksgiving. According to my dad, I have finally exceeded her award winning pie (sorry mom).Thank you to both of my parents for helping me find the passion for baking.
I am so excited for this blog. I am excited to showcase my cakes and other baked goodies to any and all out there that want to see them.
